OverviewThis piece was completed in mid December of 2025. This piece was painted on a beautiful wooden panel canvas purchased at the awesome Mohawk Valley Art Shop in Schenectady, New York.

Process: This piece started off with my typical approach, layering tons of white gesso on the canvas and creating patterns and designs with these layers of gesso. From there, I initially used some taping to create two distinct spaces on the canvas. As the piece evolved I moved away from the two created spaces (only to return to that design later lol) and moved and mixed some darker colors to express the instability and absolute craziness of human behavior/human nature. I felt the need for some type of object that would represent growth, change of direction, stability, instability, time, wisdom, life, death, and a whole lot more. I choose to paint a tree without leaves. To me this tree of life represents the turmoil caused by human nature while also being a living piece of matter with beauty and depth. In the end, I used some darks to highlight my original plan, two distinct spaces that represent the two general sides of human nature, good and evil.

MeaningI would say that today, more than ever in my lifetime, I am perplexed by the thinking and the actions of so many. History is filled with examples of abhorrent human behavior, and vice versa. I just don't understand human beings and find myself having a harder and harder time putting a finger on what exactly human nature is. First and foremost I do love people, I love them and I root for them, constantly. Yet as each day passes and I continue to sit back and observe, I am torn as to how I would describe human nature. This piece, is my best attempt to define what human nature is. I hope you enjoy it.

While admittedly the importance of my views/thoughts/opinions are absolutely insignificant in relation to the world, I have chosen to share my feelings through this piece of art. I hope that you can get some sense of that while viewing my work. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate you!
